As I promised in Episode 6, I headed back to the lumber yard this past weekend to correct the little “mistake” I made on my first trip. Remind me not to go to this particular yard on Saturdays anymore… it’s not a big place, and it was really crowded, which makes it hard to take your time and pick through the lumber. At any rate, I picked up a lot more cherry and two more pieces of hard maple. I was tempted to pick up some extra maple for future projects (they had a lot of nice maple, and the price for 4/4 stock is only $2.25/bd. ft.) but in the end, I didn’t since I figured I had spent enough money already.
While I was there, I also bought a 5′ x 5′ sheet of 3/8″ baltic birch plywood. I am planning to use this for the drawer bottoms. I was originally going to use 1/4″ ply, but all the 1/4″ sheets were shaped like potato chips, so I went with 3/8″ instead. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow.
