The hammer, huh? I’ve yet to invent anything of actual use.
Your bit on where to spend money on the shop got me thinking. I just finished building my shop, and since part of my
day job is advising people of what they can do to make their homes more energy efficient and I also help clients that are building new houses make good energy decisions, maybe now is a good time to do a series of posts dealing with energy efficient building. You talked about A/C and I agree totally that
everyone that wants to build in comfort will probably need cooling, but I hardly use mine. Even when it’s gotten over 100 degrees outside, my shop temperature has only risen to 80.
I haven’t even addressed insulation of the crawl space yet.
I didn’t realize I hadn’t change my associated Website to the blog I started. I’m very new at blogging and woodworking and hope to much better at both.
I have a marvelous and profound invention. I’ll tell the story behind it before the reveal. “And that’s the rest of the story…”
I was building a chaise lounge for my deck based on the Pottery Barn ones you see in catalogs. I got to the point where I needed to attach a fascia board to the internal frame. I wanted to make sure it was flush to the frame. I built a jig that held the front fascia to the frame securely while I drilled and clamped. It worked so well that I even took a short video of this so that I could show everyone.
Later I watched the video only to realized that I had invented the straight edge! So glad I didn’t post that video!

Sorry Dave,
